If you’ve chosen to print on a non-white material, please keep in mind that the colors of your graphic project will be influenced by the color of the substrate.
For example:
- On a clear surface, the printed colors will appear transparent
- On kraft materials, the printed colors will look darker
For many non-white products, you’ll find the "white printing" option in the quote, which allows you to:
- Print white elements
- Achieve rich and vibrant colors even on clear surfaces (e.g., acrylic or transparent stickers)
- Print clearly visible colors on dark surfaces (e.g., aluminum, black paper, silver stickers)
If you select the solid white option, there’s no need to create a dedicated graphic layer in the print file: white ink will automatically be printed across the entire surface.
If you select the selective white option, refer to the instruction document for all the details needed to create a print-ready file. Here are the general guidelines:
- All content (to be printed in white) must be vector-based (use vector graphic software such as Adobe Illustrator)
- Create a separate layer named "white" for all the content you want printed in white
- Assign a spot color named "white" with 100% Cyan
- Assign the "Overprint Fill" attribute to these elements
- Place all elements to be printed in CMYK on the layer named "Artwork"
- If you want to print white ink beneath your CMYK artwork, ensure the elements on both layers are perfectly aligned
If you’ve also requested mirror printing (available only for clear materials), please read this article for additional information.
