Here’s everything you need to know to create a proper file for products with Special Finish.
If you need assistance modifying your file or adding the finishing touches to your printed design, you can purchase our Design Service, and we'll take care of it for you!
- Special Finish must be applied selectively to any shape
- It’s recommended not to cover a large portion of the design to achieve optimal results
- The minimum font size is 10 pt
- The minimum printable line weight and gap between lines is 1 pt
- Leave a distance of 0.12 inches between the finish and the margin cut or folded lines to avoid varnish cracking
Download instructions and templates to create a print-ready file:
- All contents should be vector-based
- Create a separate layer named "Finishing" for all the elements you want to apply the Special Finish
- Assign these contents a spot color also named "Finishing" with 0% Cyan, 50% Magenta, 100% Yellow, and 0% Black (resulting in an orange color)
- Select the Overprint fill attribute only for these elements
- The Special Finish type will be the one selected during product configuration
- Place the other contents on a separate layer named "Artwork"
- If you want 3D transparent varnish to align perfectly with your artwork, ensure the elements on both layers are positioned exactly the same
- If you select gold or silver foil, make sure to place the elements requiring the finish in the "Finishing" layer only
Please note:
- We generally do not provide printing with two special finishes simultaneously. Only Luxury Labels allow you to choose more than one special finish without overlapping
- To create the Finishing artwork, you need to use Adobe Illustrator or another vector-based design program
- More detailed instructions are available in the instruction file you can download from the product page
- The provided template already contains the "Finishing" spot color
