White and mirror printing

If you have chosen to print on a non-white material, please remember that the colours of your graphic project will be affected by the substrate colour.

For example:

  • On a transparent surface, the printed colours will be transparent too
  • On havana material, the printed colours will be darker

For many non-white products you find in the quote the "white printing" option, which allows to:

  • Print white elements
  • Obbtain rich and vivid colours even on transprent surfaces (e.g. plexiglass or transparent stickers)
  • Print clearly visible colours on dark surfaces (e.g. aluminium, black paper, silver stickers)

If you select solid white print option, there is no need to create a dedicated graphic layer in the print file: white colour will be automatically printed all over the surface.

If instead you select selective white option, find in the instruction document all the information needed to create a print ready file. These are the general directions:

  • All the contents (to be printed in white) must be vectorial (use a graphic software such as Adobe Illustrator)
  •  Create a separate layer called "White" for all the contents you want to print in white

  • Assign to these elements a spot colour named "White" 100% Cyan

  • Assign "overprint" attribute to these elements

  • Put all the elements to be printed in CMYK on the layer named "Artwork"
  • If you want to print the white colour under your CMYK artwork, please make sure that the elements on the two layers are exactly in the same position.

If you require also mirror printing (available only for transparent materials), please read this article to find additional information.
