WE HELP YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT MATERIAL!

To help you choose the most suitable product, we guide you through dedicated pages detailing roll labels, organised by material, shape, and intended use. Choose from waterproof, special finish, or repositionable labels. Print labels for beer, oil, or cosmetics. Find your oval, square, or round label. This way, you can quickly identify the option that best meets your needs.

Let’s explore the different ways you can customise and make your roll labels truly unique!

MATERIALS

Choose your preferred printing substrate from a wide selection of plastic materials and papers. You can see and feel them for yourself by ordering our sample pack

  • Plastic: suitable for outdoor use, durable, and difficult to tear. Available in various colours with the option of white ink printing

  • Standard paper: ideal for indoor use, perfect for a simple and clean finish

  • Premium paper: papers with special finishes for an elegant and distinctive effect. Some are resistant to water, oils, or vegetable fats

  • Barrier paper: designed to withstand water, ice, and temperature changes. Ideal for beverages, wines, and product packaged in bottles or jars

Available materials vary depending on the label type. For example, in the section dedicated to oil labels, you will only find materials suitable for contact with oily substances, while plastic materials are not included in the paper labels section. Explore this page to easily find the options that suit you. Remember, by clicking the “i” for information, you can always view a detailed description of each material with photos.

FORMAT AND DIMENSIONS

Choose from a variety of standard formats (circular, square, oval, rectangular, square with rounded corner, rectangular with rounded corners, scalloped, lollipop seal, lollipop: two circles) or select “Custom size and shape” to create a bespoke shape. In this case, the shape must be specified in the file following these instructions.

Depending on the format you choose, you can enter custom width and height (from 1 x 1 cm up to 30 x 30 cm) or select from the standard dimensions offered.

OUTPUT DIRECTION

Choose the orientation of your roll labels (0°, +90°, 180° e -90°). Submit the file in the normal reading direction: your artwork will be automatically rotated during production. If you are applying the labels manually, we recommend keeping the output direction at 0°; if you are using a label applicator, you can select the orientation that best suits your needs.

LABEL GAPPING (CM)

This option is particularly useful for automatic labellers, as it allows you to set the distance between one label and the next along the roll according to your machine’s requirements. For manual application, we recommend keeping the gapping automatically suggested based on the selected size.

ROLL SIZE

If you are setting up your label for manual application, the roll can be divided as follows:

  • 1 roll, h 33 cm

  • 2 rolls, h 16.5 cm

  • 3 rolls, h 11 cm

  • 6 rolls, h 5,5 cm

You will find one or more of the options above depending on the size of your label.

Please note that if you select the multi-artwork option (see below), the roll size applies to each variant. For example, if you choose “3 rolls, h 11 cm” and have 4 different designs, you will receive 3 rolls for each design (a total of 12 rolls).

UV INVISIBLE INK

Perfect for printing security elements such as codes or serial numbers, or for creating special graphic effects on your products, this ink is invisible to naked eye and can only be seen under UV lamps, appearing as a fluorescent yellow. We recommend downloading the instructions to prepare your file correctly.

SPECIAL FINISH

Add a special effect to your labels by choosing from gold, silver or transparent 3D varnish. This option is available on many of our papers and some plastic materials. You can find alla available materials here. For file preparation, please consult the instructions or this article for more information.

If you want to combine multiple finishes on a single label to make your design stand out, check out our luxury labels! Here you will also find dry printing, hot foil printing (gold, copper, and silver), 3D-effect printing (gold, copper, silver, and transparent) and special varnishes.

COATINGS AND LAMINATION

To enhance durability and improve the appearance of your labels, an extra protection may be applied according to the material you select:

  • Anti-scratch varnish: a scratch-resistant protective gloss coating that can be applied to the label to protect it from scratches and UV light

  • Matt lamination: a matt, transparent plastic film that protects the print

  • Gloss lamination: a glossy, transparent plastic film that protects the print

  • Soft Touch lamination: a transparent protective film with a soft touch finish and soft feel

The available options depend on the material you choose: you may find one or more possibilities. For certain materials, no coating or lamination is applied in order to preserve their natural characteristics.

MULTI-ARTWORK

This option allows you to order up to 10 design variants with the same specifications. You can set the quantity for each variant (minimum 100 copies) and assign a name to each one. The labels will be delivered on separate rolls for each design. In the file upload area, you will be able to upload a PDF for each variant—the names assigned during the quote process will help you identify them.

AUTOMATIC APPLICATION

If you are using an automatic labelling machine, set up your labels from this section or choose between hand or machine application for models where this option is available.

APPLIED BY/APPLICATION METHOD

When available, this option allows you to indicate how you plan to apply the labels: by hand, one by one, or using a label applicator. If you select “machine,” additional roll customisation options will appear. Let’s take a closer look!

FRONT AND BACK

You can print both the front and back labels of your product at the same time: they will be positioned side by side on the same roll. You can place the back label wherever you prefer—top, centre, or bottom—relative to the position of the front label. A practical and efficient solution that simplifies automatic application and speeds up production times!

Choose whether to position your labels on the outside or inside of the roll.

INSIDE DIAMETER OF ROLL

The rolls on which we print our labels have a standard inner core diameter of 7.6 cm. When you select the “machine” application method, you can alternatively choose a smaller inner core diameter of 4 cm.

LABEL CHECK

Thanks to an automated inspection table, each label is checked individually. Any printing imperfections are automatically detected, and non-compliant labels are replaced, ensuring precise, high-quality results and smooth automatic application.

NUMBER OF LABELS PER ROLL

Choose how many labels to include on each roll (minimum 500 per roll).

NUMBER OF ROLLS

Choose how many rolls you would like to order for your product: the number of labels previously specified will be replicated on each roll. For example, if you selected 500 labels per roll and choose 3 rolls, you will receive a total of 1500 labels.

OUTER DIAMETER (CM)

This item in the quote allows you to check the maximum outer diameter of the roll. It is not an adjustable parameter, as it is automatically calculated based on the previously selected specifications.

FAQ
  • How are roll labels applied?

Roll labels are pre-cut and arranged on a continuous backing, making them easy to peel and apply by and or with an automatic labelling machine.

For some models, you can select the application method directly when ordering (hand or machine), according to your needs.

If you need individual adhesive stickers instead, you can find the product you’re looking for here.

  • How many rolls will I receive?

The number of rolls depends on the application method you choose:

  • If you select "machine", you can specify how many rolls you would like to receive
  • If you select “hand” or if the application method is not specified, the number of rolls depends on the roll size you have selected. The total number of labels will be distributed across the selected roll or rolls

Please note that, in any case, for very large quantities, your order may be divided across multiple rolls.

  • What does “custom quantity” mean?

The custom quantity indicates the number of labels per roll to be printed. If you choose the Multi-artwork option, you can divide this quantity among the different variants of your choice. Each variant will be produced on separate rolls, with a minimum of 100 copies per variant.

  • Can I customise the roll?

Yes, you can customise the roll by selecting the “machine” application method, if available, or by placing your order via this page. This option allows you to choose the roll’s inner diameter and other advanced settings. Please note that, in this case, rolls are always cut according to the height of your labels. For example, if you upload a file with a round label measuring 10 x 10 cm, the roll will be 11 cm high (a 0.5 cm margin is added at the top and bottom). The outer diameter will be automatically calculated and shown in the quote.

When you select by “hand” or if no application method is specified, rolls have a standard inner diameter of 7.6 cm, and their height depends on the selected roll size. The outer diameter may vary depending on the selected options and production needs.

  • How does Multi-artwork work?

You can order up to 10 variants, the quote features remains the same; personalise the quantity per variant (min 100) and easily identify each one by giving a name. Receive separate rolls for each design.

  • Can labels be in contact with food?

No, labels can’t be applied directly on the food; stick them on the packaging or the paper that wraps it.

  • Can I apply roll labels on fabrics?

No, roll labels are not suitable for fabrics. You can print DTF transfers specifically designed for heat application on cotton or polyester, ideal to decorate garments, fabrics and accessories

  • I need to cover the product price with the label, which material do I have to choose?

Silver polypropylene and Black paper are the best choice. Please note that you need to add the white printing option to print white colour or to have it as a background underneath other colours.

  • Why are there some blank spaces in the roll?

While printing the labels on the roll, for quality process reasons, some meters may be skipped: please continue to unroll and you will find all the labels ordered printed!

Also, you may find some blank meters, at the beginning of the roll, to protect the printed labels: tear up the barcode label and unroll it!

  • What’s the difference between varnish and lamination?

They are both added to protect your printing. Varnish is a sprayed gloss coating while lamination is a plastic film applied on the printed surface (this can be both matt or gloss). Prefer the latter for a more durable solution.

  • How can I create my label design?

Use Designer to create your standard shape label and get inspired by thousands of free models or ask our help through design services (please note that if you have chosen the printing of multiple artwork variants, you will be asked to request the service directly on the product page—the price automatically varies depending on the number of variants). If you’re creating your file with a design software, find here useful information about cut to shape, white printing and special finish.
