Banners and flags with accessories: how to prepare the file correctly

Banners and flags allow you to add accessories such as eyelets, pullbacks and hooks, as well as additional features like pole pockets and reinforced edges or double-stitched reinforced hems. To ensure that important elements of your design are not cut off or hidden by these additional features, it's very important to keep all key text and graphics within the safe area.

SAFE AREA: where to locate it

Always follow the guidelines provided in our template to correctly lay out your design. Remember to download the template only after filling out the fields in the quote form: this way, it will already have the correct dimensions and include all the information you need.

The solid red line marks the safe area.

The other lines indicate:

  • Dashed red lines: pole pockets and reinforced edges. In this area, we recommend using only background colours or patterns, as it will be partially folded to the back and heat-welded

  • Black circles: eyelets. Be careful not to place text or graphic elements that need to remain legible in this area

  • Magenta line: cut. Indicates where the material will be cut along the perimeter. Remember that, in the presence of pole pockets and reinforced edges, the outer part will be folded to the back. Always use the safe area as a reference to avoid losing important content

  • Green line: bleed. Always extend the background colour up to this line to prevent visible white edges where the material will be folded or cut

If you use Designer, our online graphic creation tool, the line indicating the safe area is green, and the lines marking additional features are dashed yellow:

SAFE AREA: what is it for?

Small deviations of 1-2 mm during cutting are inevitable, no matter which material you choose. It's the same as when you cut a sheet of paper with scissors, right? It is important to place text and graphic elements within the safe area to prevent them from being cut off or positioned too close to the edge, which could result in undesirable visual outcomes.

Please pay special attention to placing important texts and graphic elements inside the safe area, especially if your product includes accessories or additional features. Their production requires printing extra portions of material, which will then be folded and turned over, and therefore will not be visible on the front.

Always place relevant text and graphics within the safe area to ensure a high-quality result.
