For perfect bound and sewn bound books, please provide a file containing only the cover (and any personalised endpapers, if selected) as facing pages, while the interior should be supplied as single pages.
Stapled binding and wire-o binding publications, on the other hand, should always be prepared as single pages, exactly like a book interior.
Please note that:
- The outside and inside cover (where applicable) of perfect bound and sewn bound books must be laid out as a single spread, including the spine, as explained in the instructions and template provided
- If you have selected personalised endpapers (available only for certain hardcover formats), the file must be prepared according to the layout shown in the relevant template, which requires a combination of facing pages and single pages
If you created a file with facing pages, you can easily convert it to single pages using the same program you used to create it. Below are quick instructions for the main programs.
Adobe InDesign
- Reopen your file
- Go to "File" - "Export"
- Choose "Adobe PDF (Print)"
- In the export settings, under the "Pages" section, make sure "Pages" is selected (not "Facing pages")
- Click "Export"
Affinity
- Reopen your file
- Go to "File"- "Export - Export"
- Choose "PDF/X-4"
- In the top right, under "Area", select "All pages" (not "All spreads")
- Confirm by clicking "Export"
Remember: if you use our templates, everything is easier. Files are already set up for print: bleed, margins, and layout are preconfigured. Using them saves time and reduces the risk of errors.
