How to correctly create a cut path

When purchasing a product with a customised shape, we ask you to create the cutting path following a few rules. The cutting path provides the cutting machine with the information it needs to produce your final customised shape, so it is important to follow these indications:

  1. The shape must be simple, linear, and closed

  2. The path should not contain too many points (vector nodes)

  3. The path must be created using the CutContour color swatch and set to overprint

1. SIMPLE AND LINEAR SHAPE, WITHOUT TOO MANY VECTOR NODES

To ensure a clean and accurate cut, it is important that the cutting path is not overly complex.

If your path contains too many vector points, as shown in the example on the left below, please simplify it so that it resembles the image on the right.

2. CUTCONTOUR COLOUR SWATCH, OVERPRINT

Assign the CutContour colour swatch (included in the template available on the product page) to the cut path, and enable overprint. For more information, please refer to the product instructions and read this article.

If you have ordered a product with a customised shape (die-cut), create a simple, closed vector cutting path with a limited number of nodes to ensure the best possible result.
