Stapled Binding

Opt for Stapled Binding for a sleek, compact publication that’s easy to flip through and makes a bold statement!

In this binding technique, sheets of paper are folded in half and then binded together along the fold with two metal staples. It’s ideal for shorter booklets and mostly preferred due to its convenience, handiness and lightness. Whether you need 8 pages or up to 100 (depending on your paper choice) this binding style is ideal for advertising, informative content, and more in any language you need.

Print your company profile, detailed program event or periodical magazine (newsletter or fanzine). Choose stapled binding also for menus, price lists, brief catalogues. Bring life to your creative projects printing travel memories, colouring books or self-made planners on our stapled bindings... There’s no limit to what you can create!

WE HELP YOU CHOOSE THE RIGHT PRODUCT!
  • Closed format: first select the closed format of your magazine. Choose between standard formats or customise it as you prefer. From 10 x 14.8 cm to 29.7 x 29.7 cm, create your fully personalised booklet and stand out with a non-conventional size: surprise your readers with a squared or a stretched format

  • Orientation: figure your printed book closed and then select vertical or horizontal layout. Please remember that staples are always on the left side of the closed product. If your publication is in a right-to-left script (like in RTL languages), make sure to design your graphics with the content flowing from the end to the beginning

  • Paper: based on your previous selection, only paper types and weights available are automatically displayed. The shorter your booklet is, the wider the selection of papers will be.

We offer the possibility to print cover and inside pages with different paper types and weights. You can decide to print cover and inside on the same paper and grammage. However, the cover is frequently printed on a higher grammage and is laminated. Adding lamination to coated papers is recommended to protect the print from scratches and liquids.

Furthermore, lamination adds a touch of elegance to your publication, enhancing colours and providing a polished effect.

Otherwise, you can also obtain a distinguished look picking a textured or special effect paper and mixing different materials. Just remember to use non-coated, smooth papers if you plan to write on your printed product. For a deeper look into all our paper options, check out this article

  • Binding: available with saddle stitch, ideal for booklets with a limited number of pages, or with a square back (for formats from 14 x 14.8 cm up to 29.7 x 29.7 cm with a laminated cover). This option provides a flat, squared edge, reduces the spontaneous opening of pages, and improves handling and stackability even with heavier paper stocks

  • Number of pages: select the total number of pages from the options available (it must be a multiple of 4). Include the cover (4 pages) in the selection. Example: if you have 20 inside pages, the total number of pages must be 24, as the cover always counts as 4 (if you don’t want to print the inside cover, white pages still count)

We recommend downloading instructions and template on the product page to create a print-ready file

If you’re looking to stand out with a very special cover effect, add special finish to the external cover of your stapled binding: give your book a unique look!

Please note that special finish option is available only on cover printed on coated papers

In case you need a longer publication, or the combination of number of pages and papers available does not satisfy your needs, pick another binding type: perfect bindings are ideal for printing long novels, catalogues and diaries while wire-o bindings are frequently used for manuals, training materials, long reports and presentations.

FAQ

  • Will my booklet open flat?

The binding with two metal staples allows your publication to be opened flat and easily flick through. However, if you’re looking to print notebooks or similar that need to be perfectly laid flat on the table (without the need to hold the pages down or use a book weigh) we rather recommend wire-o binding

  • Are your stapled binding publications offset or digital printing?

We rely on different printing methods (digital or offset) and therefore different printing machines depending on the quantity, the chosen paper type and many other variables. Nonetheless, we guarantee both methods allow high print quality.

  • Is there an option for different staples (colors, sizes, etc.)?

Our stapled bindings have saddle stitching. It is not possible to customise the color (metal), size or position of staples. They are automatically placed centrally at a variable distance depending on the format chosen.

  • I am looking for a booklet with staples on the upper side, how can I do?

As the binding is always done on the left side, if you want the staples to be placed on the upper side you need to select the layout depending on the reading orientation you want to obtain (portrait if the staples need to be placed on the longer side, landscape if on the shorter) and to rotate your file accordingly (- 90°).

  • I’ve received the product ordered and, when closed, there’s a bulge; is it normal?

It is normal that pages do not adhere completely along the folded edge when ordering stapled binding with few pages and high grammage papers. To avoid it, consider ordering a wire-o binding that lays perfectly flat.

  • How can I create my design?

At the moment, the Designer tool to create the layout from scratch is not available for this product. However, on the product page, we provide instructions and template to create a print ready file on your own (with a design software). Thanks to the new preview service, you'll still be able to make some minor adjustments to your file before printing.

If you need any help editing or creating your booklet, have a look at our Design Services. Please note that for this product, the design service needs to be purchased on the product page directly and the service quote will automatically be displayed once you have filled in the product features.
