What to do if you have a file with facing pages

For perfect bound products, we ask you to upload a file containing only the outside and inside cover (where applicable) as facing pages, including the spine, while the interior should be supplied as single pages.

Saddle stitched binding publications, on the other hand, must always be prepared as single pages, exactly like a book interior.

Find out here how to set up a book cover correctly.

If you created a file with facing pages, you can easily convert it to single pages using the same program you used to create it. Below are quick instructions for the main programs.

Adobe InDesign

  • Reopen your file
  • Go to "File" - "Export"
  • Choose "Adobe PDF (Print)"
  • In the export settings, under the "Pages" section, make sure "Pages" is selected (not "Facing pages")
  • Click "Export"
Affinity

  • Reopen your file
  • Go to "File"- "Export - Export"
  • Choose "PDF/X-4"
  • In the top right, under "Area", select "All pages" (not "All spreads")
  • Confirm by clicking "Export"
Remember: if you use our templates, everything is easier. Files are already set up for print: bleed, margins, and layout are preconfigured. Using them saves time and reduces the risk of errors.
